Diving on the Wreck

The wreck lies at a depth of 24.5–25.5 meters and is oriented with the bow pointing southeast. It is not covered by fishing nets, but in the lower areas, it is partially buried in sediments. The sides of the wreck, with their characteristic double covering , are relatively well-preserved, rising about one meter above the seabed.

Several meters south and southeast of the wreck (in the area around the bow and starboard side), fragments of wooden beams and planks were found. To the north (near the stern on the port side), elements of the rigging were discovered, including masts with a top pulley, possible fragments of a boom or gaff, and a well-preserved wooden anchor windlass.

Historia

From 2003 to 2005, the wreck was the subject of archaeological research conducted by the National Maritime Museum, which helped identify the ship's type and construction period. It is likely the wreck of a small sailboat, either a kuff or galiot, built in the first half of the 19th century.

On 14.02.2023, during an exploratory expedition by "Odkrywca" magazine and Dive Land Dive Centre, a team of four divers (Kamil Stankiewicz, Bartosz Słaboń, Paweł Golik, Maciej Romanowski) and a remotely operated vehicle – the Chasing M2 Pro, piloted by Łukasz Orlicki – conducted dives. The dives allowed the team to capture images showing the condition of the wreck’s sides and loose sections of its covering protruding above the seabed.
